What Is the Fastest Way to Cancel a Timeshare?

If you want out of a timeshare, the fastest route is usually the most direct one.
If you just made the purchase, there may be a short rescission period, or legal cancellation window, when you can get out quickly. Once that deadline has passed, however, the process becomes more complicated. That is when working directly with a timeshare cancellation lawyer can save time and unnecessary steps.
At Connor Law, PC, you directly hire the attorney who handles the cancellation. There is no timeshare exit company standing between you and the lawyer actually doing the work.
For a very recent purchase, the rescission period may provide the simplest route out. This is a short period established by applicable law when a buyer may cancel a timeshare purchase by following specific notice requirements. But most people who call Connor Law, PC are already outside that window.
Maybe you have owned the timeshare for a few months or several years. You may still owe money on the loan, be paying increasing maintenance fees, or have purchased additional points or upgrades along the way.
At that point, there usually is not a one-size-fits-all cancellation form. Someone needs to look at what you own, what you owe, what happened during the sale, and which timeshare company you are dealing with.
A timeshare exit company is a business that sells services to people who want out of their timeshares. The problem is that many exit companies are not law firms and cannot actually provide the legal representation needed to handle the matter themselves.
That can mean a longer timeline. You hire the exit company. The exit company gathers your information. Then, in some cases, your matter is passed along to an attorney or another provider who actually handles the legal work. Connor Law, PC cuts out that middleman.
Andrew Connor explains the difference this way:
“If you hire an exit company, they eventually have to send your case to a lawyer, and you have to ask yourself what you are actually paying the exit company for. When you hire me, you are hiring the person who is actually going to review the problem, write the demand letters, deal with the timeshare company, and work to get the contract cancelled.”
— Andrew Connor, Attorney at Connor Law, PC
That does not mean every timeshare can be cancelled overnight. It means you can start with the person who can actually evaluate the legal problem and take action.
Once the rescission period has passed, the first job is figuring out what kind of problem you have.
Connor Law, PC looks at the timeshare company, the amount still owed, the financing, maintenance fees, any upgrades or additional purchases, and what happened during the sales presentation.
The firm may also look at possible misrepresentations, meaning statements made during the sale that were false or misleading. For example, you may have been told the timeshare would be easy to sell, provide rental income, have plenty of booking availability, or become more useful if you purchased additional points.
From there, Connor Law, PC can determine an appropriate cancellation strategy, communicate directly with the timeshare company, and send formal demand letters when appropriate.
You are not given a packet of forms and told to handle it yourself.
Timeshare owners are often frustrated by the time they start looking for a way out. That makes promises like “guaranteed cancellation” or “fast exit” attractive.
Be careful.
A company cannot responsibly know how your timeshare should be handled without first understanding the contract, debt, and sales history. Adding another expensive service between you and the person doing the legal work may not make the process any faster.
Sometimes the simplest route really is the simplest route: hire the lawyer directly.
If you are outside the rescission period and ready to get out of your timeshare, start with a direct conversation with Connor Law, PC.
Explain which timeshare company you are dealing with, how long you have owned it, what you still owe, and what has gone wrong. Connor Law, PC can tell you whether cancellation appears realistic, what the process would involve, and what it would cost before you decide whether to hire the firm.
